The Commander before Commander Raleigh was Commander Moore.
I have contact with 2 Ashtabula men in late 40’s and early 50’s. There are not many of them left.

If you go to photos and go to pictures in 1952 you will see a series of photos taken in Oct 1952.
Lt Commander Raliegh was directly behind the board about the photo being taken. I know Lt Commander Raleigh was the Executive officer all the time I was aboard. You can go to rooster and looked at crewmembers who served from 1950 till 1954 and email them for more info. I am sure Darrell Hooten was aboard then and his email is available for you to send a message. If I can be of more help to you let me know.

Thank you Ron and Bonnie. My first wife died in 1995 after years of illness. Patty and I had been married 8 years and this was so sudden. We lived 40 years in those 8 years. Will be hard without her.

I am going through a rough time now. My wife died Jan 11th of cancer. We were in NC mountains in late Oct and she was fine and her back started hurting after we got home. They said she had cancer all over her body and 2 1/2 months later she was gone. We had a wonderful and storybook marriage. We went on 15 cruises and to Europe and Hawaii and many other places.
The spot in my heart will never be filled like that again.

OK Stan Evans and Frank Bull get your buddies to support the reunion. Stan, I know how you worked to get your budies to Atlanta in 2003.

Remember if anyone gets to Ashtabula please go by the museum. The wives and kids of the sailors have not seen the bell.
Call the museum to be sure it is open.
It has the main section on shipping on the Great Lakes.
Someone donated miniture tools of all kinds.
    Really fascinating.

There are a lot of people that made his happen. I just got the idea. Gregg is the real reason that we are getting the bell in Ashtabula. Bob Frisbie has been relentless ( that is good) about getting the bell to Ashtabula.
I had hoped that it could get to a reunion so the wives and children of crew members.
I got my piece of the ship and donated it to the Museum. I think it belongs there. The Navy did a good job cooperating on this matter.
