On 23 April 1964 I became a Golden Shellback on our way to Sydney & Melbourne Australlia, that is my #1&2 ports.
#3 is Kagoshima Japan, the Ashtabula was the first Navy ship to make this port for liberty since the end of World War ll. We made the port in 1961 & 1962. As you come up the bay you would see big lava rocks floating out to sea, and I had the best ice cream at a park in Kagoshima.
