I reported on board december 1962 and was transferred off on November 1963. Being an RM I was always afraid of missing some of the morsh code
and being thrown overboard by Capt Hill for causing us to mis an unrep.
A cell phone could have replaced the whole OC division. I remember
signalman Riley. He was always going to kick my A… , never could understand why except he was from Texas…probably one of the fast guns.
I still can’t understand how such a greasy ship could have such an outstanding crew. Wonder what happened to LCDR Robinson? He was
too intelligent to be an officer and too much of a gentlemen to be an enlisted man but afer all a terrfic all too human person. Hope to make it to the next reunion.
