I wondered what ever happened to that Bell. I remember being in a dense fog in Long Beach, in port. The fog was so thick, you couldn’t see two feet in front of you. The watch Lt. had a few of the deck apes, me for one, take turns ringing the bell constantly in hope that we wouldn’t get hit by somebody. That lasted about an hour and half, I guess.
