I don’t know the exact dates but Saigon fell on 30 April. If I remember correctly, we were in Subic when that happened and got underway right then and there.
I didn’t have any trouble getting my medal. It was a few years ago and I believe I had to send in a copy of my 214 and something telling them I was giving up my AF Expeditionary Medal to received the VSM.
